Den unikke og smukke, 19-årige, canadiske model Chantelle Brown-Young er født med en hudlidelse, der gør, at hun har pigmentforandringer i huden. Nemlig hudlidelsen Vitiligo,der gør, at hun får mælkehvide pletter over hele kroppen. Alligevel er hun med i dette års Americas Next Topmodel, hvor hun sammen med Tyra Banks vil udfordre skønhedsidealet.
Som barn blev hun mobbet og dengang havde hun et maget strot problem med sit selvværd. I dag er historien en helt anden. Den tidligere topmodel og frontkvinde i America’s Next Top Model, Tyra Banks, blev opmærksom på Chantelles Instagram-profil, og har efterfølgende spurgt den canadiske pige om hun vil være en af de 14 deltegere i den 21. udgave af det populære tv-show. Til det amerikanske magasin People’s fortæller Chantelle, hvilken betydning Tyra’s henvendelse har fået for hende: "Dét faktum at hun så gerne ville have mig med i sit show, vil sidde i mig resten af mit liv".
På grund af sit look har Chantelle dog stiftet bekendtskab med modelbranchen før, og har bl.a. været kampagnemodel for Desigual. Selvom hun også har tilegnet sig mange fans på de sociale medier, på grund af sit udseende og fokus på sygdommen, er der næppe nogen tvivl om, at deltagelsen i Americas Next Top Model kun vil sætte endnu mere fokus på Chantelle og normerne for skønhed.
